System efforts to garner outside funding for technology were unsuccessful.

Whereas the cost of high quality technology, including training and maintenance, requires a greater level of funding than is provided through Proposition 98 funds, unless funding for other essential programs is eliminated or drastically reduced, and

Whereas sources of funding other than Proposition 98 funds could supplement Proposition 98 funds used for technology, and

Whereas California is home to more successful high technology businesses than any other state, businesses that could in a variety of ways contribute to the development of high quality technology for the students of California community colleges,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California community colleges urge the Chancellor's Office to vigorously seek funds for technology outside of Proposition 98funds, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate request that the Chancellor's Office report back to the Academic Senate on its progress in acquiring such funding.
