Whereas, Faculty throughout the California Community College System have expressed concerns with their regulatory rights and authority concerning the failing of a student for an act of academic dishonesty; and
Whereas, Resolution 14.01 F05 requested an investigation of legal and professional obligations and options for faculty with regards to grading policies and disciplinary actions following student academic dishonesty, and concluded by asking that best practices for defining academic dishonesty and awarding course grades in cases of academic dishonesty, including an explanation of student rights, be developed;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges adopt the paper, Promoting and Sustaining an Institutional Climate of Academic Integrity. See Appendix C.
