Faculty Dev. comm. provide workshops that encourage and train faculty for new teaching methods.

Whereas community colleges are premier teaching and learning institutions, and

Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges takes a leadership role in supporting new teaching methodologies such as active learning, collaborative learning, constructivist learning, and distance learning, and

Whereas the demographics of community college faculty will change dramatically in the next five years as will the campus climate, and

Whereas many new faculty may not be aware of the special needs of community college students that may be met with newer teaching methods,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the concept of workshops and other faculty development activities that encourage and train faculty for new teaching methods as reflected in the Board of Governors' Basic Agenda and other documents.
