The President discussed this resolution with the Chancellor and requested that the Academic Senate be consulted when MOUs impact academic and professional matters.
Whereas Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) involving Intersegmental agreements signed by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges and other segments of higher education have an impact on local senates and colleges required to implement these agreements, and
Whereas these MOUs may require that colleges achieve performance criteria and/or comply with agreed upon standards,
Resolved that the Academic Senate urge the Chancellor to consult with the Academic Senate prior to finalizing any intersegmental Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that requires colleges to achieve specific performance criteria; establish specified degrees, such as a transfer degree; and/or mandate districts to implement specific academic policies or other specified agreed upon services.
