Join us for the ASCCC's third annual Part-time Faculty Institute on February 21 – 23, 2019, in partnership with 3CSN and with support of the Chancellor's Office. This institute is designed to support new and experienced part-time faculty. Whether you are hoping to become a full-time faculty or want to become a more effective faculty member and teacher, this institute will have something for everyone. This year's Institute will include topics on innovative pedagogy, campus involvement, leadership and equity, and the recruitment, hiring, and interview process. Thanks to the grant from 3CSN, ASCCC is able to offer complimentary registration to the Institute along with a two-night hotel stay on a first come first serve basis. Registration is limited, and the hotel rooms and "travel" scholarships will all be claimed.

Are you involved with the implementation of AB 705 at your college? Are you confused about what is and isn’t allowed? Did the frequently asked questions document create more questions than it answered? The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is proud to offer regional meeting to help faculty sort through their questions and challenges as they strive to implement the requirements of AB 705. The regional will include discussions of what is legally required, default placement, optional and required concurrent support, an update on Credit ESL implementation, and a chance to have your questions answered by individuals that are part of the AB705 Implementation Advisory Committee. 

This event will be held at Cosumnes River College located at 8401 Center Parkway in Sacramento California

Winn Center:  Room: WINN150. 

A light continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Parking is available in any regular day parking, however there is a $2 permit fee per car.  Each car must have a permit.

In the last three years, colleges have faced major changes in terms of equity and diversity on their campuses.  From faculty hiring processes to DACA and other vulnerable student populations, faculty often find themselves struggling for support and information.  The Equity and Diversity Action Committee (EDAC) is happy to announce the EDAC spring regionals, which will address these and other concerns.  We will be joined by California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Deputy Legal Counsel Jacob Knapp, who will help walk attendees through the changes to the Equal Employment Opportunity funding requirements, the EEO Advisory Committee’s documents around hiring, legal opinions and other information around DACA, and a range of other topics.  Join us!

Student learning relies on the discipline expertise and teaching mastery in the classroom; however, helping students to plan their educational path and achieve their goals is the job of all faculty with student services faculty being essential players in the success of our students.  Counselors and other student services faculty help students navigate course requirements, student support services, transfer agreements, and the many other pitfalls that can slow students down on their journeys.  Because of the critical nature of the work student services faculty do, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is offering a series of meetings to help all faculty understand recent developments in regulations and initiatives that impact student service areas and how they can play a role in addressing these changes locally. This daylong event (one in the north and one in the south) features presenters from colleges across the state; general sessions and breakouts on many topics related to associate degrees for transfer, transfer agreements with the UC system, credit for prior learning, the Educational Planning Initiative, challenges facing general education and, of course, guided pathways. Join us and take away important updates and effective strategies for improving addressing the needs of students as they make their journey through your college.

The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is holding an OER Regional meeting in Northern California at American River College at 4700 College Oak Drive Sacramento, CA 95841 on February 10, 2018. 

Parking: Parking will be free in Lots A only. See campus map: http://www.arc.losrios.edu/About_ARC/ARC_Campus_Map.htm. ARC is on the corner of College Oak Drive and Myrtle.  Parking Lot A is off of Myrtle. There will be signage on campus pointing attendees in the right direction(s).

The morning general sessions will be in the Student Center, Community Rooms 1-4. The afternoon sessions will take place in the Board Room (Student Center) and rooms L-001, L-002, L-108 in the Library Building.

The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is holding an OER Regional meeting in Southern California at Rio Hondo College 3600 Workman Mill Road Whittier, CA. 90601 on February 9, 2018. 

The general session will take place in The Campus Inn. The breakout sessions will be in the Learning Resource Center. There will be signage on campus pointing attendees in the right direction(s).

Parking: Attendees please use the student lots at RHC. The student lots are the closest parking to the meeting space and there will be no ticketing in the student lot.

The Curriculum Committee is pleased to announce that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, in conjunction with the Academic Affairs division of the Chancellor's Office, is once again holding a Curriculum Regional meeting on November 18, 2017 9:00am -3:00pm at Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus (Building QQ) 1305 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90806. See Campus Map.  Free parking has been arranged. Please park in any of the faculty, staff or student lots.  The closest parking areas are Parking lot #7 and Parking lot #10. There will be several signs in place to guide attendees to the QQ building. The meetings will be held in Dyer Hall QQ112, QQ109, QQ202 and QQ203.

The morning will consist of two general sessions. The first general session will include an update on curriculum streamlining, the UCTP pilot program in physics and chemistry, and updates on the current work of the California Community College's Curriculum Committee (5C). The second session will focus on updating colleges about the Chancellor's Office Curriculum Inventory (COCI). Additionally, the afternoon will include two sets of breakout sessions that include information about noncredit curriculum, the impacts of AB 705, ADTs and double counting, and information for new curriculum chairs. We encourage you to bring a team of curriculum chairs, senate presidents, articulation officers, curriculum specialists, and administrators so that your college curriculum team can gather as much information as possible. 

The programs will run 9:45 AM until 3:00 PM.  Registration is required prior to the event and must be completed by November 14, 2017

In recent months, discussions regarding civil discourse and equity have become more prevalent on college campuses around the state.  We all are required to have equity plans, but what conversations are taking place around equity on your campus?  Is equity playing a starring role in your discussions, or are there hesitations about engaging in those conversations?  At the fall Civil Discourse and Equity Regionals, the Equity and Diversity Action Committee (EDAC) will be discussing these ideas, as well issues around social justice, equity and curriculum, and equity and student perspective.  Join us for a lively and engaged discussion about the role equity can and does play on campuses! Registration is free, and lunch will be provided.  We hope to see you there.
