2023 Fall Area Meetings

- Various Locations

The 2023 Fall Area Meetings will be held October 27, 2023. With the coming of Fall Plenary Session November 15-18, it is time to prepare for session by attending Area Meetings for statewide updates, conversation with area colleagues, a first look at resolutions for consideration, and a chance to submit additional resolutions. Given the increased access to Area Meetings made possible by Zoom and in response to interest in taking a more equitable approach to area meeting scheduling, the ASCCC Executive Committee invites you to join us as we take a new approach to area meetings. All meetings will be held on Friday, October 27 in Zoom. The day will start with everyone together for a morning general session that will include President's Update, Foundation Update, Discipline List process information, and resolutions information along with opportunities to ask questions about each of these topics. Then faculty will convene by areas to continue with review of resolutions and sharing of college updates. Please chose your Area below to access meeting information for your Area. Please use the provided link to access a list of all colleges by Area: Area Map and College Listing.

The ASCCC Executive Committee is excited about this new approach and looks forward to seeing you October 27. We have lots of room online, so please share the invitation to attend with your faculty. See you soon!

2016 CTE Leadership Academy

DoubleTree Hilton - Anaheim

The Academic Senate will hold a CTE Leadership Institute on May 6-7, 2016, at the DoubleTree Hilton in Anaheim. This year will bring an intense focus on career and technical education at the federal, state, and local level. In our CCC system, the Board of Governors’ Task Force on Workforce, Job Creation, and a Strong Economy recently released its recommendations.  By the time this event takes place in May, implementation conversations will be well underway and input from faculty statewide will be needed.

This event will provide CTE faculty with the opportunity to engage in key policy conversations through their interaction with representatives of the task force, by learning about the implications of policy decisions on local programs and courses, and in participating in breakout sessions to better understand the college processes including topics on leadership, curriculum design, course repetition, and effective program advocacy.
