Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has repeatedly noted the essential importance of a robust general education (GE) to becoming a well-rounded, educated citizen, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) has established essential learning outcomes for a student's general education experience called the Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) outcomes, defined as:

Whereas, Local academic senates and administrators are frequently asked questions about specific statements in Title 5; and

Whereas, It can be daunting, time consuming, and frustrating to find specific statements in Title 5;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges seek to collaborate with the Chancellor's Office to make it much easier to find things in Title 5.

Effective Practices for Providing California Community College Library Resources and Services to Online Students

Whereas, Fully online and hybrid course offerings by California community colleges are continuing to increase; and access to library resources and availability of library services for students taking fully online and hybrid courses varies across California community college libraries;

Resource Library of Course, Program and Institutional/GE Level Student Learning Outcomes

Whereas, The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) requires course, program, and institutional/GE level student learning outcomes as part of the accreditation process;

Whereas, The California community colleges need to create course, program, and institutional/GE level student learning outcomes both with due diligence and without delay;

Whereas, By 2012 the California community colleges must meet the proficiency level criteria on the ACCJC rubric for course, program, and institutional/GE student learning outcomes; and
