Whereas some colleges do not have the resources to expand course offerings, and
Whereas some departments do not have the expertise to combine critical thinking and composition, and
Whereas some English departments would jeopardize or lose their literature/composition course, and
Whereas some departments have philosophic concerns about the viability of a single critical thinking/composition course, and
Whereas other departments are successfully teaching integrated critical thinking and composition courses, and
Whereas ICAS is reviewing the critical thinking/ composition issue,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend to ICAS that the integrated critical thinking/composition course be continued and that a two-course option, approved as a pairing of critical thinking and composition, be proposed to ICAS as an alternative to the present one-course option.
