Particularly in light of discussions regarding equalization.
Whereas, A central core of regular, full-time faculty remains essential to the creation and maintenance of educational institutions of excellence;
Whereas, It would be imprudent to suspend the California Community College System commitment and obligation to maintain a faculty core sufficient to ensure educational programs and services of excellence for our students; and
Whereas, A core of regular and tenure-track faculty is critical to ensuring academic integrity and continuity, curriculum and program development, broad articulation and integration, sound governance and deliberative processes, sound extra and co-curricular offerings, and sufficient availability and access to faculty for students;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community reaffirm its commitment to the full-time faculty hiring obligation and the larger goal that 75% of instruction in the California community colleges shall be taught by regular, full-time faculty.
