The ASCCC has recently published papers on implementing the 2002 standards and the faculty's role. Also, the ASCCC has founded two institutes, one on accreditation and another for SLO Coordinators.
Whereas the accreditation process is becoming integral to the ongoing operations of California Community Colleges, and
Whereas the Academic Senate is exploring ways to train faculty in their responsibilities on visiting teams, and
Whereas local faculty serving on standards committees during the self-study process at their colleges need direction and clarity in producing such an important document, and
Whereas local training procedures for faculty serving on standards committees may be inconsistent,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges explore the appropriateness and need for training and informational sessions for faculty serving on standards committees and for faculty writing local self-study reports and report back to a future session.
